Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don’t have to be in crisis or know exactly what you want to work on to start therapy. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck in the same patterns, navigating changes, or simply want to understand yourself better. If something has been taking up more mental or emotional space than you’d like, therapy may be a good place to start.

What can I expect during my first therapy session?

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what’s been going on in your life, and what you hope to get from our time together. There’s no pressure to tell your whole life story in one sitting. We’ll start where you are and go from there.

What if I don’t know what I want to talk about?

That’s completely okay. Sometimes you know something feels off but can’t quite put your finger on what it is. Part of therapy can be sorting through that mental and emotional clutter, connecting the dots, and figuring out what needs your attention.

What does a whole-person approach to therapy mean?

I believe what’s happening in one area of your life can affect the others. Stress can show up in your body, emotions can affect your relationships, and your experiences can shape the way you think and respond. A whole-person approach simply means we make room to look at all of those pieces rather than focusing on just one.

What can women’s therapy help with?

Women come to therapy for all kinds of reasons, including anxiety, overthinking, emotional overwhelm, depression, self-doubt, relationship concerns, motherhood, postpartum changes, family dynamics, life transitions, communication, boundaries, or simply feeling disconnected from themselves. Women’s therapy gives you space to understand what you’re carrying and find more clarity and confidence in how you move forward.

Do you offer support for PMDD and cycle-related concerns?

Yes. When relevant, therapy can include exploring how your cycle and hormonal changes may connect with your mood, emotions, relationships, and daily life. This can include PMDD, changes throughout your cycle, or emotional changes during seasons such as postpartum. We can notice patterns together and find tools that support you through the times that feel more difficult.

Therapy can be one part of your support and is not a replacement for medical care when needed.

What can couples counseling help with?

Couples counseling can help with communication, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, trust, boundaries, intimacy, family dynamics, parenting differences, and major life transitions. The goal isn’t to decide who is right or wrong. We’ll look at the patterns happening between you and work toward better understanding, communication, and connection.

Is your practice LGBTQ+ affirming?

Yes. Sunroom Therapy & Wellness is an LGBTQ+ affirming practice where clients and couples of all identities and orientations are welcome. I strive to create a warm, accepting space where you can feel comfortable showing up as yourself and talking openly about what matters to you.

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

Walk & Talk Therapy brings movement into the therapy experience. Instead of sitting face-to-face for the entire session, we can talk while walking outdoors or incorporate movement into a virtual therapy session.

Before beginning in-person Walk & Talk Therapy, we’ll meet virtually for the first one to two sessions. This gives us time to get to know each other, talk through privacy and logistics, and make sure Walk & Talk feels like a good fit.

Do you offer online therapy in Texas?

Yes. I offer online therapy to clients located throughout Texas. You can meet from a private, comfortable space without adding travel time to your day. Virtual sessions can be traditional sit-down therapy or, when appropriate, incorporate movement through virtual Walk & Talk Therapy.

11. Do you accept insurance or offer sliding-scale rates?

Sunroom Therapy & Wellness is a private-pay practice and does not currently accept insurance. Individual therapy sessions are $120. I also offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots to help make therapy more accessible when possible. Feel free to ask about current availability.

12. Can I switch between online and in-person therapy?

Yes. Depending on your needs and availability, we can talk about whether online, in-person, Walk & Talk, or virtual Walk & Talk Therapy works best for you. Therapy doesn’t always have to look the same, and we can adjust as your needs change.

13. How do I get started?

Getting started is simple. Schedule a free consultation so we can briefly talk about what you’re looking for, answer any questions you have, and see if we might be a good fit. From there, we can talk about scheduling your first therapy session and whether online, in-person, or Walk & Talk Therapy feels right for you.
